Environmental issue has been quite critical day by day all around the world. Especially the countries like Nepal where many Mountains and lakes are located has very fragile ecosystem. Yoga Tour No Comments

DSC00031 The word Yoga is derived from Sanskrit word  “yuj” means to control  or to unite. Thus yoga means uniting, conjunction or joining. Yoga is a form of exercise that uses slow movements and stretching. It is good for increasing flexibility and balance. It is also good for relieving stress and relaxing. Yoga has been used as a meditation technique for thousands of years. As you exercise, you meditate on what your body is feeling and try to be “one with the universe.” Yoga is part of the system of Hindu philosophy, where the aim is to achieve liberation from the limits of the desires of the physical body. A person who practices Yoga is called a Yogi.

The ultimate goal of this practice is to remove the mirage of the senses and the snares of thought to achieve perfect union with the object of knowledge. This is believed by Hindu’s and Yogis to be the only way of truly knowing the universe and our place in it. Traditional Hindu practitioners seek knowledge of the universal spirit, which is known from the ancient texts as Brahma. Other Yogis seek perfect self-knowledge, believing that in knowing oneself intimately and definitively, one will achieve liberation from that self.

Rapid Decent on Trishuli River March 7, 2010 4 Comments

Rafting should come with a warning: When the going gets tough, the tough get going-into the river Phisling. Approximately 62 km away from Kathmandu and the weather is pleasantly warm. We get off our van, and change into our swimming gear, preparing for the raft-ride. Our route: begin at Phisling, lunch at Kurintar, overnight camp at Paanch Kilo, and continue the next day to our P3202003destination, Gaighat.

The Trisuli River is one of the easier rivers that you can raft in Nepal, during the dry season at least. Our 33 km trip was spread over two days, and the terrain alternated between lazy waters to rapids that made you feel as if the earth had dropped under your feet. While some may scoff at this relatively-easy section of the river, there is enough here to thrill the beginner.

M.B. Lama (or MB Dai, as we called him), our guide and owner of High Water Rafting, warned us to never let our guard down, and to never underestimate the rapids. “The route is easy now, and it will take us six hours to reach. During October, however, the river is much faster, and we can do the whole trip in three hours.” “October” is the deity passed back and forth between our guides with a reverence worthy of the season when the river gets so swollen that new rafting ‘trails’ and rapids were created every year. Thank god it wasn’t October.
