Everest Base Camp Trek - Gokyo
Day1: Kathmandu Arrival - 1300m Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel by our representative.
Day2: Kathmandu Sightseeing After breakfast, full day sightseeing at UNESCO Heritage Sites. Sightseeing at Pasupatinath Temple, Swayambhu, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Bouddha Stupa
Day 3: Kthmandu - Lukla- Phakding Fly to Lukla early in the morning from Tribhuvan Domestic Airport,Kathmandu It is 30 minutes flight in twin otter. Lukla is located at the altitude of 2800m so there will be quite cold than in Kathmandu. After walking few minutes from Lukla airport , stop at restaurant for breakfast. Books, internet facility and trekking gear are available in Lukla. After breakfast the journey starts from Lukla. Today we have to walk for 3- 4 hours to reach Phakding through Chaurikharka, Chiplong, Thadokovi and Ghat. We can see spectacular Himalayan view from Chiplong and Thadokovi. The religion of the people of this region is Buddhism so we can see many monasteries, Maane and script are written on the rock in Tibetan language. Today journey is not so difficult. Phakding (2650m) is at low altitude than Lukla so we feel quite warm there rather than in Lukla. Phakding is a commercial place so we can see hotel and Bhattis over there. Day 4: Phakding – Namche - 6-7 hours walk Today the journey starts after breakfast. To reach Namche we have to walk through Tok-Tok, Mamju, Jorsalle. The journey from Phakding to Jorsalle is quite easy. There is Everest National Park at Manju so, we have to check in there as a first check point. Then after an hour walk along the bank of Dudkoshi River we reach at Jorsalle where we will have breakfast. There is no any shop available between Jorsalle to Namche. From Jorsalle after some minutes we have to cross Dudhkoshi River and bridge. After bridge there is steep up route we have to follow. If the weather is clear we can see Mount Everest from Thami danda. We can see many beautiful mountains, water falls, Mane on the way. Namche is situated at 3440m altitude so we feel cold out there. We can see different mountains from Namche. Namche is the biggest commercial area of Everest Region where we can find everything needed to Trekkers like internet facility, ATM. But sometimes due to technical reason ATM does not work. From every Friday to Saturday a special type of fair held here. Bakery café and Pub are also available in Namche.
Day 5: Acclimatization Today is the day for acclimatization, so you hike as per your choice. If you want long hiking you can go to Thamo and Thame where you can se Edmund Hillary Nursery and you can also see Monastery and various mountains in Thame. Today at least you have to walk 8-9 hours up and down. We have lunch en route while hiking. For acclimatization we can take a short hike of 5-6 hours for which we have to walk steep up from Namche to Syangboche then to Everest View Hotel to Khumjung where lunch can be taken. At Khumjung we can also see Monastery and the school made by Sir Edmund Hilary. During this trekking we will get chance to see many beautiful mountains. You can also visit Sherpa Museum located at Namche. After a day hiking return to Namche, have dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Namche- Dole - 7 hours walk After Breakfast we will start a journey to Sansa which is easy due to the route which is straight. After Sansa, you have to take left turn, then to follow steep up and reach Mong-La. You can have lunch at Mong-La. Walking steep down from Mong-La you will reach to Phorte, where you can find a good lodge, food and drinks. Then you have to take steep up route and straight route and arrive Dole. In today’s journey, you will find one waterfall in between. At Dole, there are altogether 5 hotels from where you can view beautiful mountains. Dole is located at the height of 4050m.
Day 7: Dole- Machhermo - 4 hours walk Today the journey starts after breakfast as usual. Today you don’t have difficulty because the route is straight and steep down. After Machhermo, you will find 2 – 3 lodges at Suthana. So you can have either lunch or drinks at this place. At Machhermo, there are 5 lodges and one hospital where advice for High Altitude is given. This is at 4420m altitude. You can also see various mountains from here.
Day 8: Machhermo - Gokyo - 5 hours walk After the breakfast, trekking starts. The trail from Machhermo to Gokyo is straight up but due to high altitude it is difficult to walk over there. Gokyo is famous for lake. You can see different mountains from Gokyo. It is located at 4750m. The longest glacier of Nepal Nagjumba Glacier is located near the Gokyo lake which is in danger zone for explosion.
Day 9: Gokyo- Gokyo RI – Fifth Lake Today early in the morning we go to Gokyo RI, which is famous for viewpoint. From here you can see beautiful mountains at 360 degree. Nagjumba Glacier and Mount Makalu can be clearly seen from here. You can also see the lodges near Gokyo Lake.To reach Gokyo RI you have to follow step up route for 2 hours. Gokyo Ri is located at 5410m. After sightseeing and taking photos at Gokyo Ri, its better to have breakfast at Lodge. If you want to see more Lake you can go to fifth lake for which you have to go through the bank of Nagjumba Glacier. If you want to trek this route you must bring packed lunch. In the evening return to Gokyo, dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Gokyo- Thagna - 3 hours walk Today’s journey is short and sweet. Thagna is a place where you can find 4 lodges. The trail for Thagna is changing day by day these days because Nagjumba glacier is expanding everyday. To reach Thagna you have to take left turn from No. 2 Gokyo by crossing Nagjumba Glacier.
Day 11: Thagna-Dzongla – 5 hours walk Today we have to begin our journey quite earlier because the route is quite long. Today you have to cross high pass i.e. Chola pass for which you have to follow either straight up or steep up route from Thagna. Chola is at 5420m. After 10am strong wind blows there so you have to reach there before 10am.There is a big ice at Chola so its difficult to walk there after the sunlight. Today you will have packed lunch. Then you will reach to Dzongla pass where you will camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Dzongla - Gorkcheep – 4 hours walk The journey starts after breakfast as usual. The trail from Dzongla to Lobuche is straight. As we go to the higher altitude, it will be colder. Gorkcheep is located at 5100m so it is quite cold out there. So it’s better to start a journey late morning today. The route from Lobuche to Gorkcheep is quite hard due to beaten trail. But you can enjoy the Khumbu Glacier on the way. You can also view, Kalapattar, Everest Base Camp and Pumori on the way. Today you can have lunch at Gorkcheep. After Lunch you can go to Base Camp. You have to walk 4-5 hours up and down to reach Everest Base Camp. If you are traveling in spring season you can see the Camp of Everest Climber also. You can also see yaks carrying loads. The trail from Gorkcheep to Base Camp is quite difficult. At Basecamp you can see Khumbu Glacier and Ice fall. Then return to Gorkcheep, dinner and overnight.
Day 13: Gorkcheep – Dingboche – 6 hours walk Gorkcheep is located at 5100m. It is better to start a journey late morning today. You have to cross Lobuche to reach Dingboche from Gorkcheep. The route from Gorkcheep to Lobuche is quite hard due to beaten trail. On the way you can see Khumbu Glacier, Pumori Mountain and Kalappatar. After that take a steep down route and view the statue of those who had lost their life during Everest Expedition. Then you will reach Dingboche through Thukla where the route is straight down and can be done easily. Then arrive Dingboche and overnight.
Day 14: Dingbochhe- Chhukung- Chhuking RI Today is also for the acclimatization. You can hike according to your choice. For easy and short trek you can go to Ama Dablam Base Camp which takes 5 hours up and down. You can have packed lunch enroute. For long trek ( 8-9 hours) , you can go to Chhuking Ri by Chhukung . Chhukung is located at the height of 5100m. From here you can see the top most part of Mount Makalu, Imja glacier and lake. In the evening return to Dingboche , Dinner overnight.
Day 15: Dingboche- Tangboche - 4 hours walk Dingboche is the highest place of Nepal where plant vegetation and crops like potato can be grown. Today the trekking starts after breakfast as usual. Today’s journey is straight up so can be done easily. Walking down the bank of Dudhkoshi you will reach Tangboche. Tangboche is famous for Sunrise view.
Day 16: Tangboche-Namche - 4 hours walk Tangboche is located at 3800m height. Tangboche is a small place consisting of 5 hotels. Internet facility is available here. It is the best spot to view Amadablam Mountain. During the journey from Tangboche - Namche you can view beautiful mountains and the traces of Buddhism culture and people. From Tangboche you will have steep down till Phuki Tanga where you can have lunch. You can walk easily from Phunki Tanga to Namche because the route is straight up. Then through Sarsa you will reach Namche.
Day 17: Namche – Lukla - 5 hours walk Today you have to go steep down from Namche then to Jorsalle, Manju, Phakding, Ghat, Chippling and finally to Lukla. Dinner and Overnight.
Day 18: Lukla - Kathamndu - 35 minutes flight Fly back to Kathmandu early in the morning. After 10 AM there is no flight due to strong wind.
