Upper Mustang Trek
Day1: Kathmandu Arrival - 1300m Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel by our representative.
Day2: Kathmandu Sightseeing After breakfast, full day sightseeing at UNESCO Heritage Sites. Sightseeing at Pasupatinath Temple, Swayambhu, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Bouddha Stupa
Day 3: Kathmandu- Pokhara - 6 hours drive / 25minutes flight Early in the morning after breakfast drive to Pokhara – 200 km from Kathmandu- 6 hours drive by bus. Lunch en route. Pokhara is one of the most visited cities after Kathmandu because of its scenic beauty.
Day 4: Pokhara- Jomsom- Kagbeni Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom - 20 mins. Then drive or trek to Kagbeni. Overnight
Day 5: Kagbeni - Chaile – 5 hours walk We reach Chaile from Kagbeni through Tangbe, Chhukong. The route from Kagbeni to Tangbe is straight up so can be done easily. As soon as you reach Tangbe, you can see some small caves. Sometimes you can also find fossils on the way. Tangbe is small village with Tibetan majority where you can get Mani wall and chortens. After Tangbe by walking straight down you will reach Chhukung where you can find good lodges for accommodation with AC 240v. On the opposite side of Chuukung there are small caves can be seen easily. From Chhukung by walking down the bank of Kaligandaki River you will reach Chaile. Then you have to walk over the bridge of Chaile, by walking 20 minutes from the bridge then you can reach Chaile. You can have lunch either at Tangbe or Chaile. Overnight at Chaile.
Day 6: - Chaile to Syanboche - 5 hours walk After breakfast today’s journey begins. You have to walk steep up from Chaile where you can see many mani wall en route. You can also see big cliff en route. You have to walk from the left of the cliff then you reach Samar. You can see many beautiful mountains from here. Have lunch at Samar then start the journey again. From Samar you have to walk steep up, straight down and by crossing one pass you will arrive Vena where a cup of tea is awaiting you.If some problem arises by altitude you can have also camp out there. After walking straight down from Vena, you will reach to Syangboche . Syanboche is a village consisting of 4-5 lodges. You can also see a Cave Monastry which is located below Syangboche.
Day 7: Syangboche – Ghami - 5 hours walk From Syangboche you have to walk quite steep up till Dantha, then after Dantha you have to walk steep down then straight and you will reach Chorten from where you can clearly see Gelling. You can also find Monasteries to see in Gelling. From Gelling you have to walk straight up then you will reach Thaile. You will have lunch break at Thaile. After walking 30 mins down from Thaile you will reach one of the pass from where you can see many rocks and cliffs. Then walking straight down from Thaile you will reach Ghami. At Ghami there is a green house where vegetable farm can be seen. Hospital, plants and animal breeding centre are also available here.
Day 8: Ghami - Chasang - 5 hours walk After taking left turn from Ghami, you will reach to Chasang. Before you reach to Chasang you can see many Goodluck Chorten. At Cahsang there is a beautiful Monastery and you can enjoy with Apple Garden and fertile farmland here.
Day 9: Chasang - Lomangthang - 5 hours walk Today the journey begins after breakfast as usual. There are two routes for Lomangthang from Chasang. The upper route is far better than lower route so we choose the upper route. You have to follow straight upward trail from Chasang, then you will reach to Gar Gumba. Gar Gumba is one of the interesting place to see and also related with Guru Rinpoche. After walking short straight then to steep up route you will reach pass of Dantha where the altitude is 4250m; that is why it is cold out there. After walking sometimes from this pass you will be able to see Lomangthang. The king of Mustang lives in Lomangthang so if you want to meet the king you can meet according to his time. You can see many Monasteries from Lomanthang and also souvenir shops are available there.
Day 10: Lomangthang – Chhoser – Thili - Namayal - Lomangthang Today its better to travel by horse so you can cover more areas. At Chhoser, John cave and other caves are main attraction. Aani Gumba is famous at Thili. Namyal Gumba is popular at Namyal. Today it is better to carry packed lunch.Return to Lomanthang and overnight.
Day 11: Lo-Mangthang – Yara - 5 hours walk After walking steep down from Lo-Mangthang you will reach Dantha, then you have to walk steep down and then by taking left turn, walking down the Kaligandaki River, you will arrive Yara. Then you will have a lunch break. There are beautiful monasteries in Yara where you can click your pictures.
Day 12: Yara- Ghasa - Yara - 4 hours walk After breakfast you will trek to Ghasa where you can see very beautiful Luri Gumba and you can also view various caves en route. After having lunch at Ghasa again you will return to Yara.
Day 13: Yara - Tetang - 5 hours walk Today it takes 5 hours walk to reach Tetang from Ghasa. You will have packed lunch en route. You have to carry water also. You can see various caves en route.
Day 14: Tetang - Chhukang - 4 hours walk By walking steep up, straight and steep down you will reach Chhukang. Drinking water is not available en route so you have to carry water then lunch break will be at Chhukang. Overnight.
Day 15: Chhukang - Kagbeni - 4 hours walk Today the route is quite easy so you can easily reach Kagbeni through Tangbe. You can have lunch at Kagbeni.
Day 16: Kagbeni - Jomsom - 3 hours walk Today you start your journey after breakfast then after walking 3 hours you will reach Jomsom and have lunch out there.
Day 17: Jomsom- Pokhara - 20 minutes by flight Today you take a flight at morning and reach Pokhara within 20 minutes.
Day 18: Pokhara- Kathmandu Today you will return to Kathmandu either by bus/private car or by flight.
